Hope Johannesburg Camp, South Africa

The Johannesburg camp was held from April 27-29, 2007 and the theme was “A Dominion Church”. It was a wonderful time of reunion for me with brothers and sisters in Christ in Johannesburg. It brought back fond memories of my time in South Africa.

I have been blessed to stay with Henry's family while I was there. We spent time sharing life & ministry experiences. We had laughter, a meal, watching the champion league match between Manchester United & AC Milan, praying and preparing for the camp together.

The camp’s atmosphere was enlivening. We had 30 people but the way we praised God with song, dance, clapping of hands and cheering exuded an atmosphere of hundreds of people. We had a former church member who was convicted by God to start her own church join us in the camp with a few of her church members. They were richly blessed by the teaching, preaching and workshops and requested the chance to join for future camp. A first time camper was so positively overwhelmed, “I had never received so much teaching & truth! The church camp I had attended in the past organized by other church group was mostly an adventure, sight seeing camp with very little teaching.”

At the end of the camp we were filled with possibilities. The platform was created to re-mobilise people to serve God. New initiatives and care group action plans were written down at the end of the camp for people to carry home and implement. We thank God for His Presence and the promise to empower those who have set his hope on Him! Pastor Johanes – Hope Singapore

Hope Johor Bahru Mission Support to Indonesia churches

Hope Johor Bahru has been involved in mission support to Indonesia since May 2005. Pastor Kwong Lie made monthly trips to the different cities like Jakarta, Yogjakarta, Surabaya, Magelang, BandungMeda.. He conducted leadership training and pastoral care. and He spoke in camps and Bible Conferences. The first West Java Camp ‘A Visionary Church’ was held in April 2006. It was powerful and there were around 100 delegates.

The Indonesian churches also joined the Southern Region Church Camp in JB in June 2006 enthusiastically. The camp called ‘An Excellent Church’ encouraged and challenged many people to serve God. After Ps Kwong Lie’s initial involvement, the whole church in Hope Johor Bahru is now actively supporting the Indonesian churches. Doors have opened and many members have been stirred to respond and expand the work in Indonesia.

Praise Points & Updates

  • Pastor John and Wai Lup received scholarships to study the Indonesian language in Yogjakarta and Jakarta respectively.
  • Joseph received company posting to set up a business branch in Jakarta.
  • Working Adults Unit will pioneer a care group in Batam

Through the past year and a half, we have witnessed the mighty work of God and saw a higher level of unity among the Indonesian churches.
All glory and honour to Him!

Hope Perth pioneering a new centre in Katanning

Hope Perth started pioneering a new centre in the town of Katanning (about 3 ½ hours drive from Perth) in December last year. Pastor Stephen and his team had been praying over the town of Katanning and exploring the land for opportunities to start the new centre for many months.

God in His perfect timing began to open doors and prepared the way for us to start the church through our brother John Gayton who resides inKatanning with his family. They have a desire to be part of our church planting team in the town. God also brought in the harvest by bringing 60 Chinese workers who had just arrived in the town and they are very open to the gospel and friendship.

In a special Christmas Celebration Service held on December 15, the team witnessed 10 salvations and 71 people attending the centre’s first Sunday Service. The church is continuing to see more souls saved, with another 4 salvations in the following week.

Please pray for Hope Perth and our new centre at Katanning as we continue to do the work of God in WesternAustralia.
