Pastor Simon Eng Message
Let me share with you share some principles that will help each one of us in our leadership role and in our walk with God as well.
1. Drawing close to God
I want to encourage you about the principle of being able to relate with God closely in our lives. You know, daily as we arise, daily as we go about with our activities, it is very important for you to keep your heart and mind with some portions of remembrance of connecting with God. Once we are able to come close to God, if we devote time to really fellowship with God, brothers and sisters, it encourages your spirit, it encourages your faith and we get refreshed in God. Many times you know Jesus teaches us about the vine and the branches. “I’m the vine; you are the branches”. Every branch must be connected to the vine. We are the branches that must be connected to our God.
- You know in many situations in our lives, as we are all busy people, many things take away our focus and our attention daily.
You know many people in the Bible were distracted. We know Solomon who was distracted. We know David who at some point in time was also distracted. We know of Demus in the Bible was distracted. So brothers and sisters, I want to encourage us with this principle: stay close with God. Jesus told his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane “pray and watch that you do not enter into temptation”.
- So there’s praying and there’s watching, there’s a closeness that we need to continue to maintain with God so that we do not miss what God has for us in our ministry and in our life.

2. Overcoming Discouragement
I want to encourage you also the principle of not letting discouragement bring us down in the depth of ministry. We all get discouraged, we all face situations because we have expectations, we have principles in our lives and sometimes things just do not work out the way we want it to be. And I really believe that God allows us to go through situations, discouragement sometimes, things that really cause us to lose momentum. I really believe God allows us to go through some of those situations to train something in our lives, to uproot something within each one of us so in that situation maybe when we are in the valley, we would look up to God and say “Lord, you are my shield; Lord, you are my strength; Lord, I am not going to depend on myself but I am going to depend on you”. So overcoming discouragement is another area that is very important.
- I really want to share with you; it is important for us to be able to overcome situations in our lives. God created mountains, God created valleys; we will go through these different experiences with God.

3. Walking in the power of God
I want to encourage you thirdly in our ministry, in our leadership. Brothers and sisters, see some miracles happen in our lives. See some miracles, see the power of God at work in our lives. You know, a Christian life should be a spirit-filled, a power-filled life. It is not a powerless life. We are not walking with God without power.
- But we need the power of God so that we can break through, so that we can overcome the challenges in our city. Brothers and sisters, God put the spirit of God within us so that we can overcome the spirit of our city.
So those are the three exhortations that I want to encourage you. Three principles that have been in my life, in my heart so that I am able to walk with God, walk the distance, walk with enthusiasm with God.
Principle of Multiplication
Brothers and sisters, I also want to encourage you regarding our church culture, things that we do in church. You know, I travel to many churches, I visit our smaller churches, I visit our larger churches, and I want to encourage you with this thought that all of us must remember.
- Everything that we learn in our local church, we must keep in mind that we want to duplicate ourselves, we want to duplicate our training, and we want to duplicate our church culture into another place.

A Culture of vision, discipleship and commitment
For example, building the culture of vision that our people run with vision, the culture of training our people correctly, discipling them well; from a member to a shepherd into ministry; how to build a consistent Christian serving life in them; the culture of moving ahead with God. Brothers and sisters, some of these things we forget very easily. But I want to encourage you, you know as we run our church, week after week, month after month, year after year, let’s really ensure our people are able to capture this culture and they are able to take it and duplicate it. You know, praise God, if some of our members visit some of our churches anywhere around the world, they can appreciate whether this Hope Church in another culture, in another land has got this biblical culture in place. I believe it is important for us to establish this with our people.
The early church in Acts
I like Acts 2:42-7 for example, where the 3000 were first converted, brought into church on the day of Pentecost. They continued in the apostles’ doctrine, breaking of bread, fellowship, prayer, they shared their lives, they worshipped together, they evangelised; you know they saw miracles and the Bible says God added to their church. Some of those areas there are the biblical culture of the first New Testament church and it was a dynamic church, it was a great church. So brothers and sisters, I want to encourage you from what I am feeling in my heart, each one of us, each of our churches, need to establish some of these principles in our lives and the culture in our church.

HIM Tagline: Beyond the Boundaries
Our tagline is going to be “Beyond the Boundaries”. You know as we serve God, there are boundaries that we break within ourselves. There are boundaries that we break in our local church. There are boundaries that we want to break even in the international arena. Beyond the Boundaries – it is a good caption. It is a good tagline whereby each one of us can see within the tagline we are moving internationally. We are moving to fulfil the Great Commission – going beyond the boundaries. Look for the write-up, the message in the logo, it has been written up, the tagline has a catchy way of saying. Brothers and sisters, this is all for us.
Global Conference in Singapore & Kuala Lumpur

I want to remind you about our Global Conference coming up in 19th - 21st August. Another few weeks, I am going to see you in Singapore. I have sent out the invitations to many of our leaders, it is going to be an open session. We are going to talk about core values: number one, to know what we value in our family, what we value in our movement – that is part one. In November, it is going to be in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. It is core value, part two.
These Global Conferences are designed with different purposes and objectives in mind. There are teachings, there are wonderful workshops, there is encouragement, there is impartation, there is prayer for needs, and there is fellowship to encourage each other in our family, in our movement. So I want to remind you again, keep these dates. Look up your pastor, ask them what are the dates etc. Continue to keep these dates in mind, save up the finances and believe God to provide for you because I want to see you there.

European Leaders' Conference, Berlin Germany
In August, I am going to travel to Europe. There is going to be the European Leaders’ Conference (6th - 8th August, Berlin, Germany). I am going to be with them, be with the leaders there who will come all over Europe. It is going to be a great and wonderful time where we are going to teach, we are going to preach, we are going to fellowship and we are going to encourage Hope Europe to move on planting churches all around Europe.
Brothers and sisters, pray for me, pray for my family, pray for your pastors, and pray for your leaders. They need your spiritual covering, they need your prayer covering. It is essential that you remember them, to intercede for each one of us as well. God bless you, I see you the next time when I communicate with you again. Amen.
