HOPE SINGAPORE WORKING ADULTS CAMP

The Working Adults group had our annual camp at Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia from June 11-14 June, 2009. This was the first time we were having our camp at KL and many took advantage of the budget airline fares on offer to fly with their care groups. We held our camp at The Legend Hotel, one of the very few hotels in Malaysia that could host our event with more than 650 camp participants.

The Indonesian group also joined us this year with a few brothers and sisters who had returned to Indonesia flying to KL to join us at the camp.

This year’s camp theme was “Heroes: What Are You Made Of?” We went back to the basics of Biblical character strength and learned about the lives of the Bible’s heroes and what we can learn from their example. Pastor Jeff taught lessons on Joseph (Integrity), Paul (Humility), Abigail (Courage). Michael taught about Jeremiah (Perseverance).

Pastor Simon, the President of HIM, was invited to teach three lessons. Pastor Simon’s teachings were titled “The Call to Last the Distance”, “Breaking Free” and “Receiving Our Rewards”.

We were very blessed by all the teachings from all the speakers and also the various workshops that the camp workshop instructors conducted.




We had a great time fellowshipping with one another and also the shopping and eating together on the night the campers were given free time to travel around and explore the city of KL. Many took cabs and the train to KLCC and had a great time that evening.




On the last night, the tangible presence of God was so strong that people who stepped into the ballroom were able to sense God’s presence. We had a great time worshiping and listening to the Lord.

Pastor Simon led the congregation into a time of responding to God’s calling. The leaders were asked to minister to all the people who responded and the people were prayed for and ministered to.



In short, the camp made a difference to the many there and we were renewed and refreshed by God’s Spirit and recaptured the importance of character building as we serve the Lord. We look forward to next year’s camp where we can experience greater things from God.
