PASTOR SIMON ENG MESSAGE

[Hope London Church Anniversary photos]

Greetings and Happy New Year! 2010 is going to happen upon us. Brothers and sisters, we have a tremendous vision ahead. We have a tremendous work ahead. We are taking on our tagline of going beyond boundaries. We want to accomplish greater things for God. As the New Year approaches, and with that challenge in mind, I am taking on the word that we received to call for a HIM Global Prayer together.

We want to spend the month of January, the first month of the New Year, 2010, to give ourselves to the Lord in prayer and fasting. We want to call on the Lord just like in the book of Nehemiah when they were embarking on the new project of building the wall. We know what happened. Many of us are familiar with the story; many of us are familiar with the victory that Nehemiah accomplished. He built the wall in record time. He built the wall with the power, with the grace and with the favour of God. And we want to see that happen for ourselves as well.

" So I am calling on every one of us, our churches around the world, our leaders around the world and our members around the world to spend the month of January coming together to fast and pray" . Pastor Simon Eng

HIM Global Prayer

There are four specific themes that we have laid out. Let me share it with you.

Week 1 (4th-10th Jan 2010): Consecration Focus

The first week that starts from the 4th of January. We call for the consecration focus. It is going to be a week where we dedicate ourselves, where we give ourselves to the Lord.

Remember the book of Joshua, before they [Israelites] crossed the River Jordan. God spoke to Joshua; Joshua spoke to the leaders, to the people and said “consecrate yourselves”. It is a time of giving ourselves to the Lord. It is a time of preparing our lives in holiness and in righteousness.
  • As we pray, as we seek the Lord, I want to call for every one of us to seek God’s holiness that he may impress on us to live a holy life, separating ourselves unto the Lord; living a life of righteousness, walking in holiness.
The Holy Spirit impressed on us that there are areas displeasing to the Lord, areas of sin in our lives where we need to repent, where we need to make ourselves right with God. Let’s get it right in the very first week of the month and in the very first month of the year that we say to the Lord “I am giving myself to you in righteousness, holiness, in separating myself from sin” so that God may use every one of us. You know that God works through the righteous lives of every person who gave themselves to Him.

Elijah was a man praying in righteousness and God stopped the rain and then God brought the rain as he prayed. So, brothers and sisters, it is a consecration focus for the first week of the year.

Week 2 (11th-17th Jan 2010): Leadership Focus

Then in the second week, starting from the 11th of January, we are going to call it leaders focus; a leaders and leadership focus.

It will be a week where we pray for all our leaders. Pray for me as the elder. Pray for our RMCs who are holding all the regions around the world.
  • Pray for our pastors, our co-ordinators, pray for our unit leaders and our cell care leaders and our leaders all around in different responsibilities, ministries.
We want to uphold them so that they will have great anointing, so that we will have great wisdom, so that there will be effective leaders that will expand the work of God, that will wisely pastor our people, that will raise leaders so that our movement, our churches will continue to expand. So it is a leaders and leadership focus; pray for them such that they will be able to run with great victories for the Lord.

Week 3 (18th-24th Jan 2010): HIM Focus

The third week starts from the 18th of January; it will be a HIM focus. It will be a movement focus. Brothers and sisters, I share with you about the five areas that we want to expand in HIM.
  • First, I call it the mission thrust. It is where we want to see missions continue, we want to see our church planting continue, whereby we want to plant in new territories, whereby we consolidate our existing territories; however, missions is the thrust.
  • The second M, we are talking about the maturity of churches. Our churches will continue to grow in maturity, to be more and more like Christ, so that the faith will be consolidated and they will not be easily shaken.
  • Thirdly, we pray for the maturing our members as a HIM focus, where our members will grow, our members will mature, to be more and more captured by the core value of being Christ-centred and our core value of being covenantal people. Our members will capture the vision; our members will have purpose in their lives.
  • Fourthly, concerning the HIM focus is ministry development. We are looking at developing leadership; we are looking at developing five-fold ministry among our midst as well. We are looking at teams and team relationships, whereby each one of these ministries will grow and be fruitful. We talk about management focus as well. Management in HIM focus is where we are able to govern our movement well.

Week 4 (25th-31st Jan 2010): Regional & Local Churches Focus

The fourth week and the fourth focus will be starting on the 25th of January. It will be a regional and local churches focus.

We want to pray that our regional churches will continue to expand. Our churches around our regions will be fruitful. They will be able to plant in new territories; they will be able to plant even within the cities and see many more quality groups emerging and enlarging and growing as well.
  • We want to see our regional and our local churches being very fruitful in every aspect of their work; being able to raise leaders and being able to plant churches.
We look forward to having this focus becoming a real point of growth as we pray, as we dedicate them to the Lord. So my dear brothers and sisters, it is going to be a real exciting time in January, starting with the first month of the year being able to give ourselves to the Lord in prayer and fasting. I call it HIM Global Prayer. Join us together, set aside that time in your calendar. We are going to believe that through this time of praying, the whole year will be a great and fruitful year. We believe through this year, I am expecting God will do wonderful things. As Nehemiah spent that time, mobilised the people and they gave themselves to the Lord. They were able to overcome the opposition and there was victory. They built the wall in a record time of 52 days when they could have taken a long, long time.

Greater fruitfulness and anointing in 2010

Brothers and sisters, for us, through our HIM global prayer, we are going to believe the year will be a great year ahead.

As we pray and as we fast, we are going to believe that God’s going to do wonderful things. God will do miraculous things; God is going to do new things in our midst. Our hearts will be inflamed for God; our churches will be stirred up with greater holiness, stirred up with great vision of fulfilling what we want to do for God. Our churches will be able to see new leaders and new plantings emerge. It is going to be an exciting time, but we really believe that God is going to great things in 2010. God’s going to give us a fruitful year.

Global Conference: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Finally, I also want to remind you our Global Conference (GC) for the month of January is coming up. It is going to be on January 20-22, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

We are expected by the Chiang Mai church; they are excitedly waiting to host us. So we are expecting a large number to come: both in Thailand and also from overseas as well. The topic is going to be on spiritual covering. Come and join us and listen. Relearn again about the aspect and be sure about spiritual covering for our churches and ourselves as well. It is going to be an exciting time. I think there will be different activities on.

We will have made lots of workshops. We will have different leaders teaching on different aspects of God’s word. We are going to have a city tour. Some of you may be excited to go elephant rides and tour the city of Chiang Mai – it is a very historic place.

Brothers and sisters, it is going to be a wonderful GC, it is going to be a great conference. Together again I invite you to come.

Please, budget your time and your finances so we can meet together and share and have a wonderful time of reuniting and refreshing ourselves in our vision again.

I look forward to seeing and hearing wonderful things as we share together around the various conferences and around the various meetings and as I visit you. God bless you and have a wonderful, wonderful year ahead. Amen.
