YOUTH CAMP - HOPE SINGAPORE
Heroes was the name of our Dec 2008 youth camp. In this camp, we really wanted to impart skills onto our youth, skills that can not only be used for the kingdom of God, but also skills that can be used in our daily lives. Over 800 youths gathered in the Singapore Sports School hall, a mixture of locals as well as Hope delegates from Malaysia and Australia to study the Word of God.

We learnt invaluable skills from biblical characters such as Moses, Paul, Esther, David and Abraham, through the study of their lives.
- The keynote speakers were Pastors Shirley Melinda, Pastor Jeffery Chong and Torchie (Hope Brisbane). Youth leaders such as Dennis Loh and Daniel Cheah also shared at the camp.
We were transformed, as we experienced paradigm shifts in various aspects of our lives. The word of God spoke, and our lives are never the same. We grow in the confidence that God is with us, and that we can do great things for God.
Minilution is an event that reminded us of our childhood, reminded us of how we dreamt big, and encouraged us to dream big dreams for God. As our leaders performed on stage, we recalled our youthful desire for accomplishments. Our leaders guided us to envisage how we can achieve great things for God as well.
We played games as an entire youth, first by pitting skills against each other, then by working together to achieve a common goal. We were taught values even as we played, made new friends as we were grouped with unknown people. Games are a time of pure fellowship and fun, learning as we enjoyed each other’s company.
We also had Immeasurable, an extended time of praise and worship that the youth had set aside to gather as a congregation and spend time with God. As we called out, God spoke.
He spoke into the lives of many people, and transforming their lives and empowering them. The youth also prayed for growth as we aligned ourselves with God’s purpose. We prayed for our leaders, future leaders, as well as the international delegates. Immeasurable was just a time devoted to God, and God’s presence was felt so strongly throughout the four days of camp.
We encourage all members of Hope to join in our biannual camp, held in June and December every year. See how the lives of youths are being changed, and be transformed yourselves as you spend 4 days 3 nights in the presence of God.
