They shared about how they responded to God’s call to go on a mission to South America. They came to know Christ in Hope 10 years ago during their university days and now they are going forth as tentmakers! They left the shores of Singapore on August 10, 2008. Do continue to keep them and the rest of the team in Lima, Peru: Julian, Serene, Ailay, Delia and Keng Suan in your prayers.

Hope Johannesburg: a talent show and crusade

On Saturday, the 9th of August, Hope Johannesburg organised their first ever outdoor outreach event: a talent show/crusade in the township, Cosmos City. This five-hour event attracted more people than the organisers had expected! In the days before that, they faced many difficulties but they interceded unwaveringly. Their prayers were answered as God timely gave them a bigger venue with better facilities.

“The event was a crusade and talent show designed for young people to show off the talents that God has given them. It attracted young people from Alexandra, Bridgetown, Honeydew, Dieploot and as far as Soweto (these are townships)! I opened the meeting with a prayer and introduced the event where I outlined that God is the giver of talents. Our talents should therefore glorify God.
There were many acts, from many locations, showing off their various talents from singing, hip-hop, poetry, lots of dances and drama performances, which were all performed on stage. This was followed by the praise and worship session in preparation for our guest speaker, an ex-prisoner whose life has been transformed by the Lord.

The turnout was 302 young people and 79 responded to the altar call at the end of the message!
The message was about how a young man can keep his ways pure. God helped us through various obstacles to ensure that the event took place and may His name be glorified. We are following up on those whose details we managed to write down using our phones and visiting our contacts. This event marks a new beginning in Saturday services in Cosmos. Praise God for his faithfulness and doing a new thing in Hope Johannesburg.”

Hope Utrecht, The Netherlands: Bible Seminar

I was invited to visit Hope Utrecht and speak at the Bible seminar on the theme of End Times from July 4-7. Though the trip was short, I managed to spend quality time with the wonderful people in Hope Utrecht.
Located in the centre of the Netherlands, Utrecht is the capital city of the province of Utrecht and is the fourth largest city of the country. It is also home to Utrecht University, Netherland’s largest university.
Hope Utrecht is a small church but led by Albert and Claire, leaders with great hearts. They have two lovely children, Samuel and Salome. Apart from having a full-time job, being a husband, the father of two children and leading the church, Albert also faithfully assists Hope Europe in the area of IT. I am so thankful to God for his life.
The Bible seminar took place at a nice venue just outside the city of Utrecht. This lovely and serene place was situated near a wood with a small river passing by.
Apart from the teaching, we enjoyed fellowshipping with one another. I had the opportunity to make many new friends. Among them was a Thai sister who came from Hope Bangkok and her Dutch husband. Strangely enough, we were from the same church in Bangkok, but due to the sheer size of the church, we never managed to talk to each other.
Hope Utrecht is a very unique Hope church. Though it is small group, it has a large international mix. On some Sundays, there can be representatives from four continents.
Another interesting fact about Hope Utrecht is that many people found the church through its website. On the Sunday I preached at the church, there were at least two people who knew us through the internet and joined the service. After receiving spiritual food, we had a relaxing picnic at a nearby park. What a beautiful Sunday!
I left Utrecht with a heart full of joy and thankfulness to the Lord for our brothers and sisters in the church who are so persistent to do God’s will and extend His Kingdom.
Apostle Paul says in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” I believe that God is faithful. He will surely bless His faithful servants in Hope Utrecht. Let’s continue to remember them in our prayers.
Hope London Bible Seminar: Evolution: Fact or Fable
Hope London has a Bible seminar every quarter where its members receive solid teaching and refreshing encounters with God through worship. For this quarter, the seminar was held on 26 July on the topic of “Evolution: Fact or Fable?”
Evolution is one of the most influential thoughts that is against the Bible and Christianity. Though it has been understood by many to be scientific, it is just a theory that has not and cannot be proven scientifically. It is merely a religion that requires its followers to believe what it claims is true.
To me, it demands greater faith to believe in evolution than to believe in God the Creator. The high interest in the subject matter by members was evident by the fact that it was the most highly attended Bible seminar in the history of the church. While I explained what Evolution was all about and how the basis of the theory was invalid.
Ps PK presented biblical creationism counterarguments to the evolution theory. Accompanied with his teaching, he showed some amazing photos of evidence that supported the idea of creation and disproved evolutionary theory.
The seminar ended with a joyful praise and worship session.
May God our Creator bless you all. In Him We Trust,
Ps Prakich Treetasayuth

Hope Kuching, Malaysia: Working Adults Camp 2008

The three-day-two-night stay at Yes! Union Hotel promised a time of not only soaking in the presence of God and abundant spiritual feedings, but also fun-filled physical activities. Ps David Chen from Hope Bangkok graced the camp attendees with his presence to share his testimonies and anointed insights on God’s vision which befitted the camp’s theme: V-Driven.com.
The camp’s participants were truly blessed by Ps. David’s hilarious but poignant and incredibly encouraging testimonies and sharing. The contributions of Ps Denis, Sister Hai Eng, Bro. Isaac Biju and Bro. Deric Law as speakers for the different workshops doubly blessed those who attended them.
Besides the spiritual food, everyone was treated to a great time of fun in the sun. It was refreshing to see all participants in different groups working together to toil in the sun and the pool to complete various team games on the first day. Then, it was time to put our brains and muscles together for the gruelling ‘The Amazing Race’ on the second day. On the last day, all groups were asked to put together their creative juices for ‘The Power of Persuasion’- creating advertisements which carried the message of God’s Vision. To all the winners, kudos for your hard work and to the organising team for a well-planned event.
The camp left quite an impact on everyone’s lives. There was breakthrough and a renewed hope in God.
Even prior to the camp, the intercessory team, led by Bro. Andy Siaw, testified that they experienced breakthrough in their prayers. They were on their knees praying as they engaged in spiritual warfare. During the camp, while interceding, they experienced God’s favour as He opened heaven so that everyone would experience Him. God was pleased with the people’s simple heart and faith to come to Him.
God’s favour was evident as many responded to the altar call sessions throughout the camp.
Furthermore, God showed His insights and wisdom during the teachings and ministering. Many hearts were encouraged to trust God fully for their lives and to allow Him to transform lives. Everyone fell in love with God once again and wanted to experience a daily relationship with Him. Going back to basics such as being engrossed in the study of Word of God and writing new ‘love story’ with Abba Father was on everyone’s minds. Praise be to God!

Hope East Coast, Malaysia Camp: An Excellent Church
On the 1st-3rd Aug 2008, a group of vibrant members from Hope Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bharu again created history for Hope's East Coast Region. For the first time, 43 people from the three centres, breaking language, cultural and racial barriers, gathered for our 4th East Coast Camp (ECC) called "An Excellent Church, at Semarak Aruni Inn, Marang, Terengganu.
This was by far the most remarkable camp for us. Most of the programs were handled by fresh faces. We had a new camp commander, a new game master and new people in charge of decorations. We had our first ever BBQ on the first night of our ECC. All the brothers and sisters put on their best Malaysian style beach attire during the BBQ session. Our first night was marked by a cultural dance presentation by the Hope Kuala Terengganu team. The dance not only served as an opening for the camp, but also helped open the campers' hearts to the word of God. In addition, we had our Hope Kota Bharu team playing musical instruments and leading praise and worship during the camp.
We sensed a very strong outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the camp. Pastor Moses ministered and prophesied to all members throughout the two nights. A lot of people shed tears of joy, relief, deliverance and encouragement.
During the camp, we were inspired and challenged to be an excellent community. We learned that an excellent spirit starts from within and it is a hallmark of God.
The East Coast camp ended with a multimedia presentation highlighting the memorable and wonderful moments in the camp. Before we went back to our respective homes, we had lunch and a photo-taking session in the café. The last day saw everyone leave with heavy hearts due to the strong bonds formed during the camp among the brothers and sisters. All of us are looking forward to the 5th East Coast Camp next year.

Hope Hobart, Australia: 3rd Church Anniversary

On the 6th of July this year, Hope Hobart celebrated its third Anniversary. Indeed, the day marked a tremendous milestone as Hope Hobart dedicated the day to thank our God for what He has done in the last 3 years.
In the beginning, the church started off with only three members and the service was held in a house. The church has grown these years as God has graced the church with an amazing team of committed members who will faithfully go to the street to pass out gospel tracts weekly.
The church is now averaging around twenty people with a good blend of students, professionals, families, Australians, Africans, and Asians, and meets in a community hall in the city centre.

Hope Hobart has also seen God moving miraculously to minister to many people during their second Supernatural Sunday. For the first time, the church stepped out in faith to provide a sermon message that was coupled with Chinese interpretation for some of the Chinese students at the service. The team were so encouraged when two Chinese students gave their lives to Christ at the end of the service.
Mission Trip to Launceston
As the church grows, God has also graced Hope Hobart to have a heart for mission. Recently, 13 people from Hope Hobart went to their second mission trip to Launceston.
During the trip, the team shared the gospel message in the city mall through street preaching, one-on-one sharing, praise and worship and reading of the scriptures. The team also went to the university campus in Launceston for a prayer walk where they were burdened by God to pray for more harvesters to reach the students there.

During the trip, the team felt led by God to start the first Hope Sunday church service in Launceston. As the team stepped out in faith, God graced them by giving them a venue and seven visitors coming to the service. Since the mission trip, some team members have since grown in their heart burden to reach the people of Launceston for Christ.
We praise Him for his faithfulness to us and His work here in Tasmania as we look forward to the many amazing years ahead. It has been great to make history with God in this land.

Missions Trip to Ourimbah, NSW - Australia

Early this year in January, a small team of us from Hope Brisbane ventured down to Ourimbah, Central Coast, Australia. For many of us this was our very first mission trip, and it was definitely an eye opening experience. Our aim was to support and encourage the newly planted Hope Ourimbah centre in whatever way we can.
God used us in many unexpected and wonderful ways to plant and sow seeds into the hearts of the people in the quiet and peaceful community there. We shared the gospel in the shopping malls, distributed flyers to surrounding homes, supported the Hope Newcastle service, and even organised an outreach multicultural event. I was also challenged to step out of my comfort zone by reaching out people from a vastly different cultural environment. I was greatly inspired and encouraged by the simple faith and perseverance of the Hope Ourimbah pioneering team.
