I was introduced to Hope by a relative who had just returned from Hope Melbourne in February 1992. Since then, I have grown and served alongside the leadership team in Hope Singapore. In 1997, I was challenged to join full time ministry as a church accountant til 2001.
In between this period, I started pieering the Filipino ministry and continue to grow spiritually along with my Filipino brothers and sisters.As the FilipinoChurch continues to grow, I was released from my role as church accountant to serve as Filipino Pastor in 2001. A Vision to reach Filipino in Singapore
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.” 1 Chronicles 29:11
The Filipino community is very close to my heart. I remembered the day in 1997 when I met the first Filipino in my life, and who later became my friend. I asked her, “why not join me” and we reached out to Filipinos with God’s love....
We started with one Filipino person, which soon became two, then three, and it just grew from there. We started our very first Filipino Service in July 1997 with 37 people. Today Hope Filipino in Singapore is a congregation of over 1000 Filipinos, with 90 Filipinos kids, ministry for the elderly, male ministry, our own Filipino band and more than 50 Filipino care groups all over the island of Singapore. God never despises small beginnings.
Impacting the world for Christ
As I continued to know more Filipinos, I told them, "Filipinos are a special people. You are clued in to western culture while at the same time, Asian at heart with an emphasis on family values. You are extremely talented: you can sing, dance, paint, act, play musical instruments and write a script as if it is just second nature. I am often so amazed by how God has made you artistically inclined whenever you perform. I am also impressed by how adaptable and sacrificial you are, travelling near and far to make a better living for your families back home. The tenacity and robustness in your outlook is something that touches my heart.
And we desire to build a Filipino church that is your home away from home. Not just in Singapore, but anywhere in the world that we can contribute to make a difference.”
Fulfilling the Great Commission
It started with a prayer, “God, I want to place Hope’s vision in the heart of all Filipinos and build them strong to reach out to Filipinos all over the world.”
However, God is greater than my prayer, and along the years, He has enlarged the ministry and stretched our vision. He believes in Filipinos and He is going to use Filipino globally. In fact, a few of our Filipinos brothers and sisters in Singapore have started an Indian Care Group, to reach out to foreign Indians who work in Singapore. On 24th February 2008, we commissioned two Filipino sisters for mission work in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Many have acknowledged the global presence of Filipinos; I believe God is going to use Filipinos to touch the world with His love.
Growing the Filipino Ministry
The growth of the Filipino Ministry in Singapore over the last ten years from three Filipinos to an average of 1000 today is because of our commitment.
We are committed to regular
Prayer
Fasting and
Evangelism.
On average each member prays, fasts and evangelises once a week. We pray and fast from between a week to four weeks for special outreach events.
Evangelism has become a lifestyle to us from small children, single and married adults to senior age members.
We believe without God, we cannot, and without us, God will not. So we pray hard and we work hard in advancing the Kingdom of God. The work is not done yet, since there are millions of Filipinos all over the world who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

In January 2008 during our David’s Mighty Men meeting, God reminded me what He did among the Filipinos in Singapore and how He built the FilipinoChurch here for the past 10 years, He is going to duplicate this all over the world.
Our vision as Hope Filipino (Singapore) Ministry is to “Build strong and biblical Filipinos and to plant strong and biblical Churches all over the world”. It is our heart cry from Singapore to see Filipinos all over the world blessed by His love, touched by His grace and build a strong community of believers to encourage one another, in this home away from home.
All these are made possible by a great God. We are ordinary people, who love God and each other. We believe in better lives for each other and bringing out the fullest potential in all of us
