15th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION - HOPE KUCHING

15 years ago, God searched and found 5 obedient and faithful followers of Christ who captured his heart. Pastor Simon Eng, wife Lai Eng, children Sue & Jhung Ee and one sheep, Denis Lu put their love and desire to serve God before everything else and started to focus for the future. Their vision was “to fulfil the Great Commission by building strong & biblical people to plant strong and biblical churches in Malaysia and all over the world.”

2 Chronicles 16:9 “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth that He may show Himself strong in the heart of those whose heart is perfect towards them”.

15 Years of God's faithfulness

Today, 15 years later, through the recipe of our Vision & Philosophy, Hope Kuching is evidence of how a mustard seed can reach dizzying heights, HITting THE MARK; increasing a hundredfold from 5 to 500 members.

The church’s 15th Anniversary was celebrated on 15th July 2007 at the SUPP Hall, Kuching. Members used the event to sow seeds by praying and inviting friends and relatives to the joyous occasion.

The Working Adult Group took to the stage, depicting the rich cultural heritage of Sarawak by presenting a multicultural dance with Ps Simon playing the role of the Iban chief and sportingly took a few shots with the traditional hunting weapon (a blowpipe).

A team of flag bearers ushered in the Praise and Worship Session with the Praise and Worship Team leading beautiful praises into the Courts of Heaven.

It was fitting that Sue & Jhung Ee shared their testimonies during this special occasion. Sue and Jhung have, for the past 15 years, learned to love and serve God from a very young age (5 and 7 years old respectively) since they opened up their house for church ministry. It is amazing to see how much God has blessed the pair to be such beautiful people after God’s Heart.

Pastor Simon Eng words of encouragement

The highlight of the Celebration saw Senior Pastor Simon challenge the church in “MOVING FORWARD”. The key note of the message was to be not satisfied with the present level of achievement but rather, to continue to grow and move ahead so that the Great Commission can be fulfilled.

The members were encouraged to explore the market place ministry of the Church. What better way of creating a dynamic impact on society than by being the salt and light so that members can influence 7 key institutions namely: Politics & Government, Law and the Legal System, Education, Economics & Commerce, The Mass Media, Entertainment & Arts and Literature

Appreciation at Church Anniversary

Finally the smooth running of the church cannot happen without having a management team that uses the gifts and talents of its members to the best of their ability, driving their God-given creativity.

The anniversary celebration was made complete with the cutting of cake by the Pastoral Team and senior members of the church.

The MAD Generation (Youth)

The MAD Generation (youth) showed off their ever-bouncing energy by presenting a wonderful Hip-Hop dance to the beats of the song “We’re All in this TOGETHER!” as a fitting close to this celebration.
